The 2024 Members’ Meeting was held on January 20 at the Bandera Electric Cooperative Community Room in Bandera, Texas. Special guests in attendance were State Senator Pete Flores, Bandera Town Marshall Nancy De Foster, and Jimmy Gaines of the Texas Landowners Council.
Chairman Phillips declared a quorum and then called upon Senator Flores to address the assembly. Senator Flores stated that 97% of the land in Texas was privately held, that the Texas state economy is the 8th largest economy in the world, and that private property rights are of paramount importance to his legislative goals. Jimmy Gaines addressed the gathering and gave a history of Texas water issues and current challenges to use and water conservation. RLAT board members Robert Aguirre and Jeff Bearden gave reports on the 2023 Members’ Meeting and Treasurer’s report respectively. Marshall Nancy De Foster was elected to the Board of Directors of RLAT, for a term until 2027. There was a general open discussion followed by a drawing of the door prize, which was won by RLAT member Carla Murphy. |
